About KCD Journalism Department
Karnatak Arts College Dharwad is a one of the prestigious college in the country. In this college many of the subjects taught the students now. As well as recently in the academic year 2011-12 introduced the subject of Mass Communication and Journalism at in Karnatak Arts College. It is a one of the optional subject taught in the B.A Degree level. The Department had two qualified teachers they monitoring all departmental academic and non academic activities. The department of Mass Communication and Journalism had a Journalism Communication Club for other extra circular activities like arranging special lectures from media experts from television and newspaper and public relation and other fields. Nearly 120 students are studied in Journalism in three years degree level.
KCD Journalism Students Practice Journal
The department bring a student’s practical journal called “KCD SAMACHAR”. The Practice Journal enhanced the students’ skills in report writing, writing feature articles, and making pagination for very professional. The department of mass communication and journalism organised many special lectures, Seminars and Workshops from academic year 2011-12 to 2016-2017. The Department played vital role in the college for covering all ongoing campus events including science college functions for Newspapers, Radio and Television.
KCD Journalism Communication Club Activities:
In the academic year 2015-16 Senior Journalist from Times of India Shri Gururaj Jamkhandi was inaugurated communication club activities. He talks on “Writing for Newspaper”. And second special lecture arranged on “Feature writing” from Shri Manojkumar Guddi correspondent prajavani Hubli. Shri Manjunath Dollin Deputy Director Department of Information and Public Relation were participated in closing ceremony of Communication Club. He spoke on “Role of Public Relation in Nation Development”. Dharwad All India Radio Station Director Shri P. S. Paravthikar was inaugurated 2016-17 academic year communication club activities. He spoke on Role of Radio in the society. The Prajavani Senior Correspondent Shri Sudhindra Prasad talks on ‘Importance of Digital Technology in Journalism today’. 120 students are attended the both events conducted by Journalism Communication Club.
Connecting Social Media Network:
The department of Mass Communication and Journalism had created wattsapp group of Old Students alumni group and also current three year journalism students had separate groups. Most of the students are connecting with teachers’ through wattsapp group for their doubts, comments on related teaching performance and other subject related quarries. Department of Journalism had a different platform used through facebook page ‘KCDJOURNALISM’ and blog Kcd2017.blogspot.in and twitter account of @KACD100. We used effectively social networking platforms in academic level.
KCD Journalism Alumni Association:
Most of the KCD Journalism students are working in Print and Television Media fields in Reporter, Production Assistant, Sub Editor, Copy Editors in different level at media houses. Nearly 25 to 30 old students are Woking in various media field and other Government and Private sectors.

Dramas are like true interpreters of our indications, but there is art required to sort and understand them said Michel De Montaigne and it is fact that the Karnatak Arts College the mother of the Karnatak University and also its constituent college is the result of the dream of its founders Dewan Rao Bahadur Rodda Srinivasa Rao and Dewan Bahadur Artal Rudragouda. These two men dared to dream that North Karnataka, then a part of the Bombay Presidency, needed an educational institution for the students of this region they had to go either to Bombay or to Pune to pursue higher studies.
